Traditionally a GAP year has referred to the gap taken between the completion of secondary schooling or university studies and continuance of tertiary education or entry into a future career. At Letz Live we prefer GAP to stand for ‘Great Australian People’ and our contacts abroad certainly agree.

A GAP year with Letz Live offers you the opportunity to work in a foreign country. With Letz Live you live and work as boarding staff in a wide cross section of the worlds boarding school establishments. In addition to a weekly allowance, you will receive free accommodation, meals and incidentals (heating, water and electricity). In many cases those GAP students who embrace the challenges and responsibilities of their year abroad are rewarded with duties that may involve travel to national or even international destinations.

A GAP year allows you to mature as a person, gain independence and confidence through caring for students in the boarding school and experiencing international travel. Although a GAP year is a fantastic opportunity to travel, you are expected and will be routinely reminded that you have been employed to work.

The workload, type and manner of work undertaken will vary from school to school. There is no set formula for the type of tasks expected of a GAP student. The needs and requirements of schools vary quite considerably and accordingly a GAP student needs to be flexible and understanding in such circumstances. Letz Live works in conjunction with boarding schools in the United Kingdom and Canada to place GAP students who have the attributes that the school requires.
